Overview
The HPE JH692A is a FlexNetwork 5940 4-slot modular chassis, engineered as a high-performance Layer 3 switch for demanding data center and enterprise core environments. It is designed to be deployed at the aggregation or server access layer, addressing the need for scalable, low-latency, and high-density network infrastructure. The chassis provides a flexible foundation for 10GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE connectivity, eliminating network bottlenecks in highly virtualized and converged data centers. This switch chassis is built for high-throughput applications, delivering a non-blocking switching capacity of up to 2.56 Tbps. Its architecture ensures sub-microsecond latency, a critical requirement for storage traffic, including iSCSI and FCoE, as well as other latency-sensitive workloads. The FlexFabric 5940 series supports advanced network virtualization with hardware-based VXLAN support, enabling the creation of scalable multi-tenant network overlays and improving agility within software-defined data center frameworks. With a 2U rack-mountable form factor, the JH692A is ideally suited for top-of-rack (ToR) deployments. Management is streamlined through HPE’s Intelligent Resilient Fabric (IRF) technology, which allows up to nine switches to be virtualized and managed as a single logical device. This simplifies network design and reduces operational overhead. The chassis is fully manageable via a comprehensive command-line interface (CLI), SNMP, and integration with HPE Intelligent Management Center (IMC) for centralized control.
