Overview :
The 724864-B21 kit from HPE is a drive backplane and cage upgrade for field engineers working with ProLiant DL servers, designed to enable two additional small form factor (2.5″) SAS or SATA drives in either the front or rear bays. It supports deployment in the ProLiant DL380 Gen9 chassis (and compatible DL388 Gen9 systems) and solves the need for increased density without replacing the full server. The kit allows use of two SFF hot‑plug drives in the front or rear of the chassis depending on bay configuration, providing flexibility for branch, campus or data‑centre rack deployments. It integrates with the existing backplane and cabling infrastructure of the Gen9 server and is managed within the server’s storage subsystem.
