Overview
The HPE J9986A is a hot-swappable module designed for the Aruba 5400R zl2 switch series, providing 24 autosensing 10/100/1000 Mb/s PoE+ ports with built-in MACsec v3 encryption for secure edge access deployment. Infrastructure teams use this module to upgrade existing blades or chassis with power-over-ethernet capability and link-level encryption, enabling unified connectivity for IP cameras, wireless access points and secure wired devices in enterprise campus, branch or converged sites. The unit supports IEEE 802.3at for PoE+ (up to 30 W per port) and adds fibre-to-edge switches the ability to enforce link-level security. Its module-form factor fits into the dedicated zl2 slot of the host switch and aligns with high-availability, modular switching architectures.
