Overview
The HPE 5412 zl is a high-performance, modular Layer 3 switch chassis engineered for the core and aggregation layers of demanding enterprise campus and large branch office networks. It is designed to solve the need for a scalable, resilient, and flexible switching platform that can adapt to evolving connectivity demands. This chassis provides a robust foundation for high-density Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+), 10-Gigabit Ethernet, and advanced security and routing services, ensuring long-term investment protection. At its core, the 5412 zl architecture is built upon a powerful ProVision ASIC, which delivers wire-speed packet classification and robust policy enforcement without impacting network performance. Its high-speed, non-blocking backplane supports a massive internal switching capacity, eliminating bottlenecks between interface modules. This enables the chassis to be populated with a wide array of line cards—from high-density 1GbE PoE+ modules to 10GbE SFP+ and 10GBASE-T modules—providing customized port configurations that meet precise operational requirements for connecting endpoints, servers, and other network tiers. Ideally deployed as a central aggregation point in a campus wiring closet or as a compact core in a mid-sized data center, the 7U chassis is designed for high availability. It supports up to four hot-swappable power supplies for N+N power redundancy and redundant management modules to ensure uninterrupted operation. Management is streamlined through a comprehensive command-line interface (CLI), a web-based GUI, and full integration with network management platforms like HPE Intelligent Management Center (IMC) for centralized visibility and control.
