Overview
The HPE JC859A is a hot-swappable 10-Gigabit SFP+ optical transceiver made for short-range multimode fibre (MMF) applications in data-centres, such as switch-to-switch or server-to-top-of-rack links. It supports the IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR specification at an 850 nm wavelength and enables link distances up to approximately 300 metres over OM3 multimode fibre. The module fits into standard SFP+ ports on HPE switches and compatible hardware, offering duplex LC connectivity and supporting digital diagnostics monitoring (DDM/DOM) for real-time optical parameter feedback. Use it in high-density rack environments where fibre trunks connect aggregation switches or where short multimode runs are in place, rather than long single-mode links.
