Overview
The HPE JG234A is a 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ optical transceiver engineered for single-mode fibre (SMF) links. It uses an LC duplex connector, operates at a wavelength of approximately 1550 nm, and is rated for link distances up to about 40 km under standard SMF conditions. This makes it well suited for long fibre uplinks between buildings, wiring closets, aggregation switches or campus backbone segments. Since it plugs into standard SFP+ cages in HPE network switches and routers, it lets you extend 10 Gb connectivity without replacing the host device.
In practical deployment you might use this module to connect two campus buildings, or link a data-centre access switch to aggregation over single-mode fibre where copper or multimode fibre is unsuitable.
