Overview

The HPE JH148A is a high-performance, Layer 3 managed Gigabit Ethernet switch designed for the access layer of large enterprise campus networks and the edge of data centers. Its primary function is to deliver resilient, secure, and scalable connectivity for end-user devices, wireless access points, and IP telephony. It addresses the need for a robust access platform that can support power-hungry devices while providing high-speed uplinks to the network core. This switch is engineered with HPE’s Intelligent Resilient Fabric (IRF) technology, which allows up to nine physical switches to be virtualized and managed as a single logical device. This architecture provides significant operational simplification, high availability, and load balancing across the stack. With dual, hot-swappable power supply slots, it can support a Power over Ethernet (PoE+) budget of up to 1440W, enabling it to power a dense deployment of 802.3at-compliant devices without the need for separate power injectors. Ideally deployed in a wiring closet or at the top-of-rack, the JH148A consolidates network traffic from user endpoints and IoT devices. Its 1U rack-mountable form factor allows for efficient use of space in network cabinets. Management is highly flexible, offering a full command-line interface (CLI), a web-based GUI, and SNMP-based integration into network management platforms like HPE’s Intelligent Management Center (IMC), providing a single-pane-of-glass view of the entire network infrastructure.
