HPE JG939A FlexNetwork 5130-48G-2SFP+-2XGT EI Switch
Overview
The HPE JG939A is a Layer 3 access switch from the FlexNetwork 5130 EI series, engineered for the access layer of medium to large enterprise campus networks. It addresses the need for scalable, high-availability connectivity by providing 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports for user and device access, complemented by a versatile set of four fixed 10GbE uplinks. This combination of high-density 1GbE access and high-speed 10GbE uplinks ensures that network bottlenecks are minimized from the edge to the core. A core technology differentiating this switch is HPE’s Intelligent Resilient Framework (IRF), which allows up to nine physical switches to be virtualized and managed as a single logical device. This simplifies network design and operations by flattening the network architecture and providing a single management point. IRF also delivers rapid failover (~50ms convergence) for high-availability applications, ensuring consistent network uptime and resilience. The switch supports both static and RIP-based Layer 3 routing, enabling basic routing functions directly at the access layer. Designed for rack-mounted deployment in wiring closets and at the network edge, the JG939A features a 1U form factor. Management is highly flexible, supporting a full command-line interface (CLI), web-based GUI, SNMP, and seamless integration into HPE’s Intelligent Management Center (IMC). This provides a comprehensive, single-pane-of-glass view for unified network management, policy application, and monitoring across the entire infrastructure.
